How to Build a Strong Marriage That Lasts
Aug 24, 2026 6:23 PM
Marriage is often described as finding the right person, but building a lasting marriage has much more to do with what happens after two people choose each other. Love may bring a couple together, but commitment, communication, friendship, trust, respect, and the willingness to grow together are what help a marriage survive the realities of life. Every marriage will experience seasons of happiness and connection, but there will also be periods of stress, disappointment, change, and...
Julia Jacklin – “The Hardest Thing”
Aug 24, 2026 6:18 PM
Here's an important thing to note about Julia Jacklin's new single "The Hardest Thing": It has a really cool video. The Danny Cohen-directed clip is a single drone shot that lazily orbits what I'm sure is a very famous Melbourne skyscraper. As we circle this big-ass building, the camera slowly pans in on Julia Jacklin, who's up on the roof by herself, playing this song. You could not possibly pay me enough to stand on this rooftop and do anything. But Jacklin does it, and she looks cool as hell. Ella Langley Ties Record For Longest-Running #1 Song That’s Not About Christmas
Aug 24, 2026 4:51 PM
Ella Langley's adorably heartbroken country hit "Choosin' Texas" came out in October 2025, and it's by far the biggest chart hit of the 2026 calendar year. The song first reached #1 on the Hot 100 back in February. Other songs have ascended to the top of the charts and knocked "Choosin' Texas" off, but it just keeps coming back. This week, "Choosin' Texas" is back at #1 for its 19th week, which puts Langley in a three-way tie for the longest-running #1 hit in Hot 100 history, non-Christmas division. Reggie Watts Removed From Festivals Following Damning Rolling Stone Article
Aug 24, 2026 4:50 PM
Last week, Rolling Stone published an extremely troubling bombshell exposé about the comedian and musician Reggie Watts. In that article, a number of loved ones came forward to suggest that Watts played a role in the suicide of his ex-girlfriend, 36-year-old Katherine Early McCollough. Some people who knew the couple claim that Watts encouraged McCollough to take a number of drugs, especially ketamine, which led McCollough to addiction, a manic episode, and ultimately death. Since the article's publication, some of Watts' bookings have been canceled, and the podcast Comedy Bang! Bang! has stopped using his theme song. Sour Widows – “Lucky Star”
Aug 24, 2026 4:08 PM
"Lucky Star," the new song from the Bay Area alt-rock duo Sour Widows, is not a Madonna cover. Back in 2024, Sour Widows had a single called "Cherish," and that wasn't a Madonna cover, either. At this point, Sour Widows should really just work their way down the entire Immaculate Collection tracklist and repurpose every title. The strategy seems to be working out for them. Stella Lefty Explains Why Noah Kahan Got Retroactive Writing Credit On “Boston”
Aug 24, 2026 3:07 PM
Are y'all up on Stella Lefty? The Chicago pop-country artist/Groupon heiress born Stella Lefkofsky? When I heard her song "Boston" on the radio I was like, wait, are people already recording Noah Kahan covers, or has his melodic phrasing just become extremely influential? It turns out that "Boston" liberally interpolates "Stick Season," Kahan's signature hit (though not on purpose, as we'll see). Dr. Dre Says Only “People Who Have Trouble Creating” See AI As A Threat
Aug 24, 2026 2:32 PM
You're never going to believe this, but another mega-rich music mogul has arrived at the position that the use of generative artificial intelligence in music production is Good, Actually. This time around, the mogul in question is Dr. Dre, and he says that he is, in fact, using AI while making the music that he will presumably never release. He also makes the same instantly tired argument at Two Shell — that backlash against AI is motivated by the same retrograde ideas that once drove backlash against synths and drum machines. Stand On Business – Sean Paul (Music Video)
Aug 21, 2026 6:11 PM
We’ve been saying it for a while now: more and more artists seem to be drawing inspiration from classic dancehall riddims from the ‘90s. This time it’s the legendary Sleng Teng Riddim, created by Noel Davey, that gets a fresh update. And we love it! Sean Paul keeps the momentum going with the release of this […] The post Stand On Business – Sean Paul (Music Video) appeared first on World A Reggae Entertainment.

Michael Jackson Movie Sequel Will Address Child Abuse Allegations From “His Point Of View,” Says Jaafar Jackson
Aug 21, 2026 5:07 PM
For a long time, the producers of Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic that came out earlier this year, reportedly planned to include a story arc about one of the many children who accused Jackson of sexual abuse. After filming an entire third arc about Jackson's decision to settle out of court with the family of Jordan Chandler, the 13-year-old boy who first sued Jackson for abuse in 1993, the producers reportedly had to scrap that part of the movie, which showed Jackson as "the naïve victim of the money-grubbing Chandler," after lawyers discovered that the settlement forbade Jackson and his estate from including the Chandler family in a movie. Rhys Langston Announces New Album to live and die in E.U.L.A.: Hear Two Songs
Aug 21, 2026 4:17 PM
The prolific Los Angeles underground rap staple Rhys Langston was a Stereogum Artist To Watch in 2022, and he has made a whole lot of playful, verbose, layered music since then. Langston released the album Pale Black Negative last year, and he teamed up with R.A.P. Ferreira and nahhphet on "Sound Of Horns" earlier this summer. Now, he's preparing to release a new LP called to live and die in E.U.L.A., and he's got two more songs out in the world. Flower Face – “Bad Dream”
Aug 21, 2026 3:40 PM
Montreal musician Ruby McKinnon makes gauzy, dreamy music under the name Flower Face, and she became a Stereogum Artist To Watch on the strength of her 2024 album Girl Prometheus. Now, she's back with a hazy, glamorous, awfully pretty new song called "Bad Dream." If Mazzy Star recorded a song specifically for the Drive soundtrack, it might sound a bit like this. Here's what McKinnon says about it: The post Flower Face – “Bad Dream” appeared first on Stereogum.

Mac Miller’s The Divine Feminine Getting 10th Anniversary Reissue With Unreleased Songs
Aug 21, 2026 2:32 PM
The Divine Feminine was one of the best and most important albums of Mac Miller's career. With 2015's GOOD:AM, the Pittsburgh native was already redefining himself as a soulful, melodic sonic adventurer, a fixture of a burgeoning Los Angeles hip-hop scene alongside some of the brightest talents from the orbits of Odd Future and TDE. By the time he followed it up with a concept album about women's secret energy, featuring Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, and Miller's then-girlfriend Ariana Grande, he had successfully shed his old Blue Slide Park image and been widely recognized as a brilliant musician. Sheryl Crow Debuts Cars: Lightning Racers Theme 20 Years After Her First Cars Song
Aug 21, 2026 2:24 PM
It has been two decades since Sheryl Crow first serenated Lightning McQueen, Mater, and the other sentient automobiles in the town of Radiator Springs. In the opening scene of the 2006 Pixar motion picture Cars, Owen Wilson's young hotshot racer Lightning McQueen pulled some reckless moves in his quest for the Piston Cup, and Crow's song "Real Gone" played over the soundtrack. "Real Gone" hasn't become as synonymous with the Cars franchise as Rascal Flatts' take on "Life Is A Highway," but it's still shockingly popular. On Spotify, "Real Gone" is now Crow's third-biggest track, which is truly absurd. Now, after all these years, Sheryl Crow returns to the world of Cars. Creativity is infinite. Music is infinite. Hardcore is infinite. Turnstile is infinite. The ground-breaking, expansive Baltimore band announced an all-star take on their 2025 Grammy Award-winning album NEVER ENOUGH. It's not a remix album. It's not a covers album. Maybe it's a testament to creativity's limitlessness. Either way, you will never be able to guess who is on it. It's the most Turnstile thing ever — an expected unexpected – and it’s out in one week. Bassvictim’s Ike Clateman Apologizes For daine Shade, “Never Meant To Diss” Them
Aug 21, 2026 1:57 PM
For days now, the music world has held its collective breath over the brewing beef between young hyperpop acts Bassvictim and daine. The young hyperpop artist daine will release their debut album In Endless Awe & Agony later this year, and London duo Bassvictim dropped a remix of daine's single "PQC" last month. In a recent Instagram live session, Bassvictim member Ike Clateman claimed that daine's team were "hitting us up over and over again to do a remix" and that "the offer just kept getting higher and higher." In the comments, daine wrote, "this is poor taste and weird af i DID NOOOT think it was like that at all. my team asked if id like a BV remix & i said yes they’re awesome. our teams know each other. i was not desperate & i did not break the bank at all." Oh shit! It's on! The post Bassvictim’s Ike Clateman Apologizes For daine Shade, “Never Meant To Diss” Them appeared first on Stereogum.

Squirrel Flower Doesn’t Want To Make It Easy
Aug 21, 2026 1:38 PM
Things haven’t gotten easier for Squirrel Flower’s Ella O'Connor Williams, and that’s not a bad thing. I first interviewed Williams over six years ago, as an Artist To Watch, before she became an established Chicago-based musician, put out three albums on Polyvinyl Records, and led an important boycott against one of the industry’s biggest music festivals. As a musician, her writing has only gotten stronger, her voice more dynamic, her vision more expansive. But in terms of artistry, not much has changed. That’s a good thing. Williams continues to be a fierce songwriter, documenting the spaces and landscapes she moves through and moving her spirit in return.  The post Squirrel Flower Doesn’t Want To Make It Easy appeared first on Stereogum.
Diane Warren Chases 18th Oscar Nomination, Adopts 2nd Viral Runaway LA Farm Animal
Aug 21, 2026 1:29 PM
One of Hollywood's proudest traditions is nominating big-deal songwriter Diane Warren for the Best Original Song Oscar and then not giving her the award. Last year, Warren broke an Academy record, racking up 17 nominations and zero wins, which means our ranked list of Oscar-nominated Warren songs is woefully out of date. Warren's last nomination was for "Dear Me," a Kesha-sung ballad from a documentary called Diane Warren: Relentless. That film's title has been conclusively proven true, since Warren is now back in the Oscar race. Wet Leg Cover The Cardigans For Deutsche Telekom’s New Gen Z Campaign
Aug 21, 2026 12:48 PM
Wet Leg's Rhian Teasdale is the face of a new Deutsche Telekom campaign targeted at Gen Z reclaiming agency in a digitally overstimulating world. The campaign is called "Not A Passenger," and actualized in a visual, inspired by the Cardigans' 1998 hit "My Favorite Game," where Teasdale fends off internet influencer demons pushing their manifestations, self-care routines, or AI slop. The Hollies Call It Quits After 64 Years
Aug 21, 2026 12:46 PM
After 64 years, English pop band the Hollies are calling it quits. The group started out in Manchester in 1962, and Graham Nash led them before leaving to form Crosby, Stills, & Nash in 1968. The Hollies' string of '60s and '70s hits includes "Bus Stop," "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)," and "The Air That I Breathe." In recent years, the lineup has included guitarist Tony Hicks and drummer Bobby Elliott, both of whom were in the band in the early '60s. Yesterday, the Hollies shared in an instagram post that Hicks will no longer be able to tour due to health issues, and Elliott is stepping away from the stage in solidarity. Best Hotels in Jamaica: 12 Luxury, Boutique & All-Inclusive Resorts
Aug 21, 2026 4:00 AM
Jamaica has everything from intimate cliffside hideaways to sprawling all-inclusive resorts. For a strong editorial list, I’d recommend organizing the article by the type of Jamaican experience each hotel delivers, rather than simply ranking properties from 1 to 10. One important 2026 consideration: Jamaica’s tourism board currently lists some major resorts as temporarily closed or reopening later in 2026 or 2027, so travelers should verify current operating status before booking. Beenie Man ‘Eminence’ Album Review: Dancehall King Returns With Star-Studded New Album
Aug 20, 2026 8:52 PM
More than three decades into a career that helped take dancehall from Kingston street dances to international stages, Beenie Man has very little left to prove. Yet on his new album, Eminence, the Grammy-winning Jamaican icon sounds less interested in simply celebrating his past than in demonstrating why he still belongs in the conversation about dancehall's present. Released August 20, 2026, through Billboard King Records, Eminence is an ambitious 16-track project produced by Kemar McGregor,...
